Intersex Aotearoa is a peak body advocacy organisation that seeks a rights based, person, whānau and community centred health and wellbeing strategy for all those with intersex variations in Aotearoa.

Intersex Aotearoa has been working with multiple agencies, departments and organisations to ensure a better Aotearoa for intersex people. Some of the consultations over the previous years (and on-going) include:

  • Ministry of Health - Intersex Healthcare Pathways reform.

  • Statistics New Zealand - for intersex inclusion in Census 2023.

  • Department of Internal Affairs - Births, Deaths & Marriages Relationships Registration Bill.

  • Ministry of Justice - Hate speech legislation.

  • Te Aorerekura: National Strategy to Eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence .

  • NZ Medical Council and Students Association of Medical Colleges.

  • Cross Party Rainbow Coalition

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission - intersex lived experience inclusion.

  • Human Rights Commission
