Systems Change

Intersex Aotearoa aspires to
transform the systems,
laws, and policies that
currently erase, harm or
devalue intersex/Ira
tangata from social norms.
Targeted workstreams are
created to enable Systems
Change at all levels.

Education

Education in the form of a
clear website, and a range
of communication
techniques provide intersex
visibility and consciousness
raising for the general
public.
Greater awareness of the
complexities of
medicalisation and its
impacts.
Tailored resources for the
different intersecting
groups that sit under the
intersex umbrella
considering age, variation
and cultural understandings.

Community Building

A new arm of Intersex
Aotearoa will offer clear
pathways of connection,
support, affirmation and
engagement. This will be in
part through a Peer Support
Programme, a safe and
therapeutic place to
connect and build resilience
and hope.
Referral pathways direct
medical allies to community
resources and peer support
programme.
