Intersex community and connection

For the longest time we have been kept silent, our experiences hidden. Now is the time to celebrate ourselves, together!

Intersex, ira tangata, variations of sex characteristics (VSC), or DSD; however best describes you, your body or your sense of self...know that you are an important part of our community.

Conservative estimates state 2.3% of people have an innate intersex variation. That's over 115,000 people in Aotearoa alone! We can be parents, siblings, grandparents, tamariki or rangatahi. Young or old, we deserve to live proudly and have our voices heard in all the areas that affect our health, wellbeing and self determination.

Support Networks

For those that are rainbow identifying, these organisations are working the make the world a better place for LGBTQIA+ - some have intersex specific resources that we have helped develop in collaboration.

We would like to hear from you.

Let us know what is 'on top' for you and your loved ones so we can best advocate for you. We would like to hear about your experiences, both good and bad, as someone with an intersex variation living in Aotearoa.
